About the Artist

Robert Valley is a 3 time Emmy® award-winning director and animator based in Vancouver, recognized for a distinctive style defined by angled line-work, sharp shadows, and a selective color palette. His career spans music videos, feature films, commercials, and independent animation—each marked by an unmistakable visual language.

Valley is known internationally for his work on Gorillaz music videos, character design for Disney’s Tron: Uprising, and commercials for brands like Nike, Levis, and Coke. His short film Pear Cider and Cigarettes—illustrated and animated independently—earned an Annie Award and an Academy Award nomination. In 2019, he directed the acclaimed short film Zima Blue, Ice and 400 Boys as part of Netflix’s Love, Death & Robots anthology series.
